Breathe out the world

Wine makes the world not mine
      —Ergo, easier to take,
I don’t always know how to deal
      when it feels all mine
      warring emotions entwine
Life is ever split betwixt
      Lack of control—the mirthful angel
and lack of control—the nettled devil
When it’s all too much to take,
      Fresh battles, or in-statu-quo—
Breathe in, breathe out, let it go

Not so subtle, all too true

You get up one day, young,
make a quick sandwich,
throw back a cold beer,
then BAM — you're old
            —just like that!

Speaking poetry

Sometimes the poetry
     is visual
sometimes the paper
     doesn't exist...

Why is life always like a tree

Pain is like leaves on a tree
alive and beautiful but
eventually falling away;
love is its branches,
supporting it all —
happiness, sadness, and
Life's all lifeness!

At the window watching raindrops

At the window—
Watching raindrops glide off the leaves
Sweat dripping off your brow
As you make love to me in the thunder
A bird plays in the puddle under the tree
Its skinny legs dipping in life
Beak happy, wings at the ready—being
Just being
Our love, present, moment
Don't think
Flow off the leaves
Land gracefully in the puddle of life
Ride the ripple
Always love.

The more we're dragged down by stress and society, the more we look low. Try a glass of wine with dinner or unconditional happiness or a long tight hug, and you may find you can and do look upward — to where the blank spaces are, which aren't really so empty. We just don't usually look there.

The balances

Laughter is therapy for physical pain, emotional pain, and the everyday pain of life.
